Sewage sand trap - has inflow cylinder offset against oblique sand collecting cone with aerator and sand pump

A sand trap for sewage plant consists of an inflow chamber, shaped like a hollow cylinder which is offset to one side of the cylindrical upper part of the tank and receives the sewage inflow tangentially. A sand collecting hopper with an aerator and the suction nozzle of a sand pump is an oblique cone which is offset in a direction opposite to the inflow chamber. It lies in vertical projection outside the projection of the inflow chamber. This ensures that no frothing occurs in the inflow chamber as the air bubbles rise to the surface outside the inflow chamber. It prevents froth and suspended particles from being entrained with the sand by the sand pump and being transported to the sand dump.
