1505236 Washing granular material W ROHR 14 Sept 1976 [26 Sept 1975] 37974/76 Heading B2H Apparatus for washing granular material such as freshly dredged gravel comprises an endless conveyor band 29 whose upper run is depressed by a roller 18 to form a basin 30, a chute 12 for delivering the material to the basin, means 13 and 19 for spraying a liquid e.g. water, onto the material, and a housing 27 having side walls 36 closely adjacent the edges of the conveyor band 29. The roller 18 is vertically adjustable on a support 2 and consists of a plurality of spacedapart disc-like elements which permit material on the conveyor band to pass the roller. In use, the gravel settles on the conveyor band 29, is carried upwardly under a roller 18' and is discharged onto a chute 15. Any organic or loamy material present forms a sludge with the wash liquid and flows out of the basin 30 towards a tensioning roller 32. A passageway in the housing 27 adjacent the roller 32 permits the overflowing sludge to pass to a hopper 28. Upwardly directed nozzles 38 may be arranged in the basin 30 and the portions of the walls 36 adjacent the edges of the upper run of the conveyor may be provided with a rubber lining 37. |
