Bottling process for mineral waters and other sparkling drinks involves first scrubbing out the air from the liq. The CO2/air mixt. is then used as the compression gas for the bottling operation. The quantity of CO2 liberated during this operation is then used to neutralise the bath used for cleaning the returned bottles. The air scrubbing is in effect a further carbonisation stage. For use on bottling plants using returnable bottles. The process avoids a vacuum de-aeration and allows surplus CO2 to be used to neutralise the wash liquor used on returned bottles.
