<p>The system holds two live parts stationary in a predetermined relative position, being typically for a graft onto a tree or to join two broken bone parts together. It uses fixing material bridging the join and held in place by a bandage so as to secure the parts in place once it has hardened. After alignment of the two parts (3, 5, 4, 5) two or more divisible sliding-clasp fasteners (2) are fitted over them parallel to each other and at angular intervals, with their halves in the closed position, and secured to the parts concerned. The fastener teeth are then covered by easily removable sheet, and the fasteners and the surfaces of the parts lying free between them are bandaged, with the fixing material in plastic distorting condition, the material being then allowed to harden.</p> |
