Novel fortimicin antibiotics represented by the formula <IMAGE> wherein R1 is loweralkyl, R2 is hydrogen or loweralkyl and R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, acyl, hydroxyacyl, aminoacyl, N-monoloweralkylaminoacyl, N,N-diloweralkylaminoacyl, hydroxy-substituted aminoacyl or an aminoacid residue, loweralkyl, hydroxyloweralkyl, aminoloweralkyl, N-monoloweralkylaminoloweralkyl, N,N-diloweralkylaminoloweralkyl or hydroxy-substituted aminoloweralkyl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, intermediates useful in their preparation, compositions employing the compounds and methods of using the compounds. |
