In an apparatus for inserting furniture fittings, such as cup strap hinges, hinge blocks or the like, into drilled holes in furniture parts, with a press-in device (16) which is displaceable in the perpendicular direction below a fixed horizontal work rest (11), a pressure-medium cylinder (27) with a piston rod (28) which can be extended perpendicularly upwards lies inside a hinge receiver (22) formed on the top side of the press-in device (16). The pressure-medium cylinder (27) is connected via a pressure line (29) to a second pressure-medium cylinder (30) which is supported on an extension arm (31) and is connected to a short-stroke cylinder (34). The pressure-medium cylinder (27) and the pressure-medium cylinder (30) connected via the pressure line (29) are filled with pressure fluid in order to apply the requisite pressure force so that a force/pressure ratio builds up. <IMAGE>
