PURPOSE:To secure castability and productivity and to improve rust resistance by specifying the respective amounts of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Ni, and Mo and by regulating structure. CONSTITUTION:This rust-resisting cat steel has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.5-1.5% C, 2.5-3.5% Si, <=0.7% Mn, <=0.05% P, <=0.1% S, 5-10% Cr, 8-15% Ni, 2-8% Mo, and the balance Fe. Moreover, granular secondary carbides and slight amounts of lumpily crystallized primary carbides are uniformly dispersedly precipitated. The above rust-resisting cast steel can be used for a disk brake rotor which applies brakes to rolling stock by controlling the rotation of disk brake rotor interlocking together with wheels by means of pushing against a disk brake pad lined with friction material.
