PREPARATION OF ETHYLENE COPOLYMER

The prepn. of ethylene copolymer comprises copolymerizing ethylene with at least 3C alpha-olefin in the presence of a catalyst consisting of solid catalyst component (A) and organic aluminium compd. (B).(A) is obtd. by (i) reacting Grignard reagent with a chain or cyclic hydropolysiloxane contg. structural unit of formula R1 aHbSiO (4-a-b/2) [R1=alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy or aroxy; a=0-2; b=1-3; a+b 3 , (ii) reacting the prod. with at least one compd. of formula R2nM(z)Xz-n [R2=C1-12 hydrocarbon; M=Al or Si; Z=3 or 4; X=halo; n=0-(z-1) , and (iii) reacting with at least one titanium halide in the presence of organic acid ester to give (A). The catalyst has a high activity and productivity. The catalyst has a high tensile-impact strength.
