PURPOSE:To shorten labor and a time required for setting configuration information and to prevent erroneous setting from being performed by automatically performing the setting of the configuration information by starting up each means provided in a service processor, and providing a change means operated by the manual operation of an operator. CONSTITUTION:The service processor 1 generates the configuration information of a system based on the configuration information obtained by directly making access and the configuration information obtained by a report from a channel device 2, and sets it at the prescribed part of a magnetic disk device, etc. The operator sets all the devices in the system at ready states, and the setting is automatically performed only by starting up software including the means 11-15. The change means by the manual operation is provided so that it is possible to change part of the configuration information set automatically by the manual operation of the operator at need.
