METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY PIGMENTING BUNDLE OF TITANIUM-BASED FIBERS

PURPOSE:To uniformly and continuously pigment a bundle of Ti-based fibers with high productivity by continuously passing the bundle through an anodic oxidation vessel after continuous pickling while applying anode voltage on the bundle and anodically oxidizing the bundle. CONSTITUTION:A bundle 2 of Ti-based fibers continuously unwound from a drum 1 is pickled by passing through a pickling vessel 3. An aq. soln. contg. hydrofluoric acid and hydrogen peroxide is preferably used as a pickling soln. The pickled bundle 2 is washed in a washing vessel 4 and passes through an anodic oxidation vessel 5, where electric current is supplied between the cathode 11 and the bundle 2 through an anode roll 8 in an aq. electrolyte soln. to pigment the bundle 2 by anodic oxidation. This anodic oxidation is preferably carried out while splitting the bundle 2 into the fibers by applying tension to the bundle 2 through guide rolls 12, 13. The pigmented bundle 2 is drawn out through a washing vessel 6, optionally sized and wound around a drum 7.
