PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having high sensitivity and the touch of plain paper by providing a layer containing a binder and at least one kind of a heat-meltable compound having a specific mean particle size and a specific m.p. on a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material having a thermal color forming layer containing an electron donating leuco dye and an electron acceptive compound, a layer containing a binder and at least one kind of a heat-meltable compound having a mean particle size of 1.0 - 20.0mum and an m.p. of 70 - 110 deg.C is provided on said thermal color forming layer. As the heat-meltable compound, compounds represented by general formulae (I), (II) (wherein R1 - R8 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom and X is an alkylene group or a branched alkylene group) are used. By adjusting the particle size of the heat-meltable substance to 1.0mum or more, surface gloss is lost and the heat-meltable substance is melted at the time of the application of heat to contribute the enhancement of sensitivity. When said particle size is set to 20mum or more, a rough feeling is developed on a surface and a lowering of sensitivity begins to appear. Therefore, the pref. particle size is 5.0 - 20mum. When the m.p. is 70 deg.C or lower, fog becomes marked and, when the m.p. is 110 deg.C or higher, the contribution to the enhancement of sensitivity is reduced. |
