PURPOSE:To detect the abnormality of a circuit including a knock detecting part and its signal output part by outputting a check signal for generating a control signal from the knock detecting part in a knock-non-control region. CONSTITUTION:The knock of an internal combustion engine is detected by a knock detecting part 20 on the basis of an output signal from an acceleration sensor 1 as a knock sensor. On the basis of the output signal from the knock detecting part 20, the phase of a reference ignition timing signal in an ignition coil 12 is displaced to the knock suppressing side by an igniter part 22 including a phase shifting means. In such a device, a check signal for generating a control signal from a knock detecting part 20 in a knock-non-control region is outputted from a knock-non-control region detector 21. On the basis of the above- mentioned control signal and check signal, the abnormality of a circuit including the knock detecting part 20 and its signal output part is detected by a knock detecting part check circuit 23. |
