SLUDGE DETECTING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect sludge which is deposited in a crude oil tank readily by providing an operating circuit, a memory part, a mesh converting part and at least one of a contour line forming part, a three- dimensional processing part and a sludge-amount operating part. CONSTITUTION:An operating circuit 5 operates the horizontal distance from a transceiver to each measuring point and the depth based on the elevation angle of a transmitted ultrasonic wave beam and the reflected signal. The results are stored in a memory part 61. The measuring region for the transceiver 1 is divided into blocks with a mesh converting part 63. In which block each measuring point is present is judged based on the data stored in the memory part 61. The average value of the depths at the measuring points is operated. The blocks having an equal depth are interconnected through a contour line by providing a contour line forming part 64. The deposited thickness at each block is displayed in three dimensions on the ordinate axis by providing a three-dimensional processing part 65. When a sludge operating part 66 is further provided, the deposited amounts are added for all blocks. Thus, the total deposited amount is operated.
