PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compsn. excellent in shelf stability and capable of preventing cracking at the time of press molding by incorporating specified aggregate and a specified phenolic resin binder. SOLUTION: Aggregate contg. magnesia, preferably 10-80wt.% magnesia, e.g., magnesia-carbon aggregate and a phenolic resin binder whose water content has been regulated to 0.3-5wt.% are incorporated preferably by 100 pts.wt. and 1-10 pts.wt., respectively. The phenolic resin is preferably resol type phenolic resin. A phenolic resin binder whose water content has been regulated to 0.3-5wt.% by removing water in a dehydrating process at the time of synthesizing phenolic resin and then adding water is preferably used from the viewpoint of binder producing operation and working environment. |
