PURPOSE:To prepare the strontium titanate powder having a narrow particle distribution, a large specific surface and a surface activity by reacting an aqueous solution containing Sr(OH)2 and an alkali hydroxide or an amine with an titanium alkoxide and subsequently calcining the reaction product at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing Sr(OH)2 and an alkali hydroxide (e.g. NaOH) or an amine (e.g. methylamine) in a molar ratio of 1:1 to 1:4 is mixed with a titanium alkoxide (e.g. titanium isobutoxide) in an amount of the same mole as the Sr(OH)2 to react the compounds with each other at 60-90 deg.C. The prepared strontium titanate powder is calcined at a temperature (200-600 deg.C) where stops the growth of the particles of the strontium titanate. |
