PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording medium excellent in thermal transfer properties at the times of high density printing and high speed printing, imparting a printing image of high resolving power even to paper low in smoothness and providing a sharp printing image generating background staining at high temp. by providing a release layer containing a lanolin derivative between a support and an ink layer. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording medium wherein a hot-melt ink layer 3 is provided on a heat-resistant support 1, a release layer 3 containing a lanolin derivative is provided between the support 1 and the ink layer 3. As the lanolin derivative, a metal salt of lanolin fatty acid obtained by saponifying lanoline fatty acid, esterified lanoline fatty acid amine and lanolin alcohol ester are designated. In the case of minute particle constitution, the release layer 3 is easy to cut and transfer properties are excellent and one dot reproducibility is excellent and, therefore, this recording medium is suitable for high density printing and high speed printing. The minute particle constitution is formed by dispersing wax in a solvent to apply the same. |
