PURPOSE:To enable the operation of an engine always in the appropriate region of engine load by forming such structure as to switch the reduction gear ratio of a speed reducing reversing gear automatically on the basis of a reduction gear ratio change- over map indicating the determined relation between engine speed and load at the time of switching the reduction gear ratio. CONSTITUTION:A working vessel is provided with a speed reducing reversing gear C for transmitting the rotation of an engine A to a propeller B at a specified reduction gear ratio, and a switching means D for switching the reduction gear ratio of this speed reducing reversing gear C. This working vessel is further provided with an engine speed detecting means E, an engine load detecting means F, and a storage means G stored with a reduction gear ratio change-over map indicating the determined relation between engine speed and load at the time of switching the reduction gear ratio. A control signal is outputted to the switching means D by a control means H on the basis of the reduction gear ratio change-over map stored in the storage means G, according to the detected engine speed and load. In this case, the value set, in the reduction gear ratio change-over map, as the threshold value of load at the time of switching from small deceleration to large deceleration is set larger than a sailing time characteristic during small deceleration. |
