PURPOSE:To produce glucono-delta-lactone directly from glucose, by carrying out the oxidation reaction of glucose with glucose oxidase in a solution containing more than specific vol% of a neutral and hydrophilic organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:1-200g of glucose is dissolved in 1l of a hydrated organic solvent containing >=55vol%, (especially 60-95vol%) organic solvent having neutral and hydrophilic nature (preferably a lower alkanol, especially 2-3C alkanol such as ethanol, propanol or isopropanol). The solution is added with glucose oxidase as a catalyst and a catalase to decompose the hydrogen peroxide produced by the enzymatic reaction, and is made to react by contacting with an oxygen-containing gas to obtain glucono-delta-lactone. |
