PURPOSE:To prevent ink from stagnating in a gap of a head mounting part and from mixing when a blade wipes a plurality of heads and lower a production cost by positively cleaning the blade for wiping delivery port forming surfaces of the ink jet recording heads after wiping and by appropriately determining the dimensions of members for cleaning. CONSTITUTION:An absorbing body 104 is provided on the side face of a recording head unit 100. After wiping a delivery face 101a, a blade 401 engages with the absorbing body 104 to be cleaned. On the other hand, the dimension and the like of the absorbing body are determined corresponding to a capacity of a tank containing ink to be supplied to the unit 100. In this manner, the absorbing body 104 is prevented from having a size larger or smaller than required.
