The present invention relates to a pole (1) intended to support, among other things, means (12a, 12b, 12c) for generating light signals, such as traffic signals. The pole consists of a pipe (11), where the said pipe (11) is adapted for cooperation with a foundation (13) and a fixture (12), comprising the said means (12a, 12b, 12c) for generating light signals. The pipe consists partially of an intermediate part (11c) which is oriented such that it is located within an area first exposed to mechanical forces in the event of a collision of a vehicle. The intermediate part (11c) is in each case made of expanded metal which is dimensioned such that, in the event of mechanical forces originating from a force component (F) directed at right angles to a longitudinal extent of the pole, it bends, with plastic deformation, about the point of impact (P) of the force component in a direction common with the said force component, by means of a further expansion and deformation of a first expanded metal section (11c') within the intermediate part (11c). The expanded metal is also dimensioned to be bent, upon further impact of the force component, and possibly broken, about a point (11c'') located below the point of impact (P) in a direction counter to the force component (F), by means of a further expansion and deformation of a second expanded metal section within the intermediate part (11c). |
