PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode with high capacity and excellent cycle characteristics. SOLUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy has body-centered cubic structure, and is made of powder prepared by arranging 1-10wt.% Ni powder or Ti-Ni powder in Ni equivalent based on hydrogen alloy powder, having a particle size of 1μm or less on the surface of the hydrogen storage alloy containing no Ni in the component by mechanochemical reaction or the like. Or, a hydrogen storage alloy electrode has body-centered cubic structure and is prepared by covering the surface of the electrode mainly comprising hydrogen storage alloy powder containing no Ni in the component with a 0.5-1μm thick plating layer of Ni or an alloy selected from the group comprising a Ni-Co alloy, Ni-Sn alloy, Ni-Zn alloy, and Ni-Mo alloy so as to contain 1-10wt.% Ni. |
