PURPOSE:To improve the yield, to prevent OFF characteristics from deteriorating, and to improve the display quality by forming a black matrix and a color filter of the same dyeable resin and dyeing the black matrix in black. CONSTITUTION:Two transparent substrates are put on one over the other across a specific gap so that their surfaces where transparent picture element electrodes are provided face each other; and liquid crystal LC is charged between both the substrates and one of the transparent substrate is provided with the black matrix BM and color filter FIL. The black matrix BM and color filter FIL are formed of nearly the same dyeable resin and the black matrix BM is dyed in dark color such as black. In this case, the black matrix BM can be formed of one layer of the dyeable resin, so the surface flatness is good. Further, the black matrix BM and color filter FIL are formed of the same dyeable resin, so the difference in thermal expansion is equal, so the peeling and cracking of the color filter FIL or black matrix BM can be suppressed. |
