MULTI-PROCESSOR COMPUTER SYSTEM USING LOCAL AND GLOBAL ADDRESS SPACES AND MULTI-ACCESS MODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-processor computer system having a distributed common memory system that is reduced in network traffic and shortened in waiting time for making a response to a request-side node. SOLUTION: Processors 16A, 16B... in nodes 12 can start transaction, which requires communication between the nodes 12. A local address can be converted into a global address. When a request is sent from the request-side node 12 to the home node 12, the home node 12 sends a read demand or an invalid demand or both to the slave node 12 holding the cached copy of requested data. The slave node responds to the request-side node 12 by using either data or an affirmative response. The respective responses contain the number of responses which the request-side expects. When the request-side node 12 receives all the expected responses, it sends a completion message to a home, considers that the transaction has been completed and continues a subsequent processing.
