PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a package useful for the storage and processing of popcorn and convertible to a convenient distribution vessel having an opening with improved form. SOLUTION: This package is an expandable popcorn package for heating with microwave, holding popcorn grains and suitable for the treatment with a microwave oven. The package 1 is bonded at the top 10 and the bottom 12 and has a front panel 2 and a back panel 4 bonded with side panels at the side face. The back panel 4 is bonded along a slightly overlapping edge and has two or more sections bonded together by a releasable adhesive. The package 1 can be converted into a distribution vessel by releasing the adhesive to peel the overlapped joint after completing the popping treatment. The back panel section is separated or removed by this procedure to expose the popcorn in the package. Ideally, the bonding force of the releasable adhesive is decreased by the heat and steam generated in the popping treatment to improve the conversion characteristics. |
