PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject agent having acyl co-enzyme A acyl transferase- inhibition action and useful for preventing and curing arteriosclerosis by allowing the composition to contain a specific compound. SOLUTION: This composition contains a compound expressed by formula I (R1 is a group of formula II or the like; R2 is a group of formula III or the like; R3 is a 1-4C alkyl or the like; R4 is a 1-4C alkyl which may have OH, or the like; R5 is OH or H; R6 is OH or a 1-4C alkyl which may have an acyloxy; R7 is H or OH; R10 is a 1-4C alkyl which may have OH; the bonds expressed by dotted lines can be present or absent), its epoxide or lactone form and/or a physiologically allowable salt (preferably a compound of formula IV, etc.). The said compound is obtained by purifying an extract of Ilex kudincha by a polar solvent such as alcohols, etc. The agent is preferably added to medicinal compositions and food compositions. |
