PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semi-transmission type liquid crystal display device which has high performances to such a degree that satisfactory reflection and transmission functions can be obtd. by attaining high brightness even when it is used as a reflection type. SOLUTION: A phase difference plate and a polarizing plate are successively laminated on a liquid crystal panel 2, while a phase difference plate and a polarizing plate are successively laminated on the other face and further a back layer is disposed on the polarizing plate. A transparent electrode 10, overcoat layer 11 and alignment film 12 are successively formed on a glass substrate 8 of the liquid crystal panel 2, and a semi-transmissive film 13 is formed on the outer face of the glass substrate 9, while a color filter 14 and a black matrix 15 are formed on the inner face. The semi-transmissive film 13 has a laminar structure produced by alternately laminating high refractive index layers and low refractive index layers. |
