PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault predicting system for external storage device, with which the recording capacity of an external storage device is hardly reduced, a cause can be investigated even when a fault occurs in the external storage device and further, burden at the time of fault on the side of a client and a producer can be reduced. SOLUTION: A computer 12 for client acquires examination data on the use conditions of a hard disk device(HDD) 10 and transmits these examination data through a communication line network to a computer 16 for service provider. On the basis of the transmitted examination data, the computer 16 for service provider predicts the fault in the HDD 10 and transmits the result through a communication line network 14 to the computer 12 for client. |
