O2 SENSOR-MOUNTING STRUCTURE OF CATALYST CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an O2 sensor-mounting structure of a catalyst converter capable of absorbing the difference of expansion degrees of inner and outer cylinders by temperature elevation while maintaining the favorable heat shielding and sound insulating properties of the catalyst converter. SOLUTION: In the catalyst converter 36 provided with a space 32 between an inner cylinder 20 holding the catalyst 26 and an outer cylinder 30 arranged outside the cylinder 20, a communicating hole 40 communicating the inside and outside of the inner cylinder 20 is provided at the side part thereof, and the O2 sensor 12 which is inserted into the hole 40 and is arranged in the inner cylinder 20 is fixed to the side part of the outer cylinder 30. The space 32 between the inner and outer cylinders 20 and 30 is air-tightly held with an expandable tubular member 38 which is formed like bellows and surrounds the sensor 12.
