PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet friction material having a coefficient of friction higher than those of conventional wet friction materials and havingμs-V (coefficient of static friction/rotational speed) characteristics with a positive gradient so as not to give a high final coefficient of dynamic friction. SOLUTION: The wet friction material consists of a fibrous base material, a filler and a binder, wherein the filler contains at least one of a diatomaceous earth and a filler having a Mohs hardness of 8 to 9.5, and the binder is a silicone resin comprising a cured hydrolyzate of a silane coupling agent. The diatomaceous earth preferably comprises one in almost a disklike form. The filler preferably comprises alumina. |
