PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new carboxylic acid compound useful as an intermediate raw material of various industrial agents such as a monomer for polymers, a raw material for plasticigers and a raw material for polyamides or polyimides. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I [X1 to X4 are each independently hydrogen, a monovalent metal, ammonium, an alkyl, etc., excepting X1 to X4 are all alkyl groups), e.g. sodium 1, 3-butadiene-1, 2, 3, 4- tetracarboxylate. The compound of formula I is obtained by hydrolyzing a compound of formula II (R is an alkyl). The compound of formula II is obtained by subjecting a maleic acid diester to oxidation coupling. |
