Color display system comprising an electrooptical modulation screen (LCD) and wherein is provided a chromatic modulator (RC) between the wave multilengths light source (S, C) and the screen (LCD). Said chromatic modulator modulates a wave length or a restricted range of wave lengths of the source in order to regulate the saturation of various primaries transmitted to the screen as well as to achieve the colorimetric balance. Applications: liquid crystal color display.
