PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor substrate by using a compact apparatus, wherein the substrate subjected to liquid honing treatment is from piercing of a polishing material (abrasive grain) on the substrate surface, splinters, knife edges, protrusions or dust deposition. SOLUTION: After the liquid honing treatment using spherical alumina abrasive grains or zirconia abrasive grains as a polishing material is carried out, the photoreceptor substrate is immersed in an acid or alkaline liquid to corrode the surface of the aluminum substrate in order to dissolve splinters, knife edges or protrusions on the substrate caused during honing.
