PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit suitably information on the normal rotation state or the reverse rotation state of a signal rotor by only connecting a rotation detection device to a control computer with a single signal wire. SOLUTION: This rotation detection device 40 is arranged close to the side of the signal rotor 30, and detects passage of a projection and outputs a pulse signal to the control computer 50. A processing circuit 46 of the rotation detection device 40 is constituted of a logic circuit. The logic circuit has the first function for determining the rotation direction of the signal rotor 30 from a detection signal of a rotation sensor 42 and an auxiliary sensor 44, and the second function for outputting a pulse signal having the time widthαwhen the signal rotor 30 is in the normal rotation state, and outputting a pulse signal having the time widthβwhen the signal rotor 30 is in the reverse rotation state.
