A pneumatic tire is provided to reduce pressure transferred to an end portion of a steel wire belt layer after being generated from the center portion of the tire. A pneumatic tire comprises a steel wire belt layer(30). The steel wire belt layer is cut to form steel codes(20,21). The steel code has a gap(22). The steel code is cut in the center portion thereof in the longitudinal direction thereof. The number of steel codes having a gap is one or two every two through five steel codes with no gap. The pressure transferred to two end portions of the steel wire belt layer after being generated from the center portion of the steel wire belt layer is reduced, so that riding comfort is improved and endurance is enhanced.
