The present invention relates to an inventory system for objects contained in a space delimited by an enclosure (10), said system comprising a tag (20T) fixed to each of the objects to be inventoried (20) and a reading point (30) provided with at least one antenna (31, 32, 33) for emitting an electromagnetic wakeup wave confined to the interior of said enclosure (10) so that a tag (20T), on receipt thereof, becomes active and then emits its identification data destined for said reading point (30). It is characterized in that it comprises means (41, 42) for controlling the emission power of said electromagnetic wakeup wave in accordance with a power variation model defined by a series of emissions by said or each antenna (31, 32, 33) according to scales at different power levels from one scale to another so as to carry out said inventory.
