Heading B5B. [Also in Division C3] A homogeneous mixture of a copolyamide and 0À01-1À0 wt. per cent, based on copolyamide, of an olefin polymer or copolymer is melt-spun into fibres. A homopolyamide may be spun simultaneously through the same orifice. Olefin polymers and copolymers include those whose monomers are: ethylene; propylene; butadiene; R 1 R 2 C=CR 3 R 4 , where R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are H or CH 3 and R 4 is H or alkyl or alkenyl with less than 5 C atoms; R 5 HC= CR 6 R 7 , where R 5 is H, COOH, or esterified carboxyl, R 6 is H, halogen, alkyl, cyano or carboxymethyl, and R 7 is halogen or a cyano, carboxyl, esterified carboxyl, carboalkoxy, acyloxy, aryl, haloaryl, haloalkyl, aldehyde, ketone, amide, imide or ether group. The copolyamide may be a copolycondensation product of at least two compounds selected from lactams, #-aminocarboxylic acids, and salts of diamines and dicarboxylic acids. Examples relate to copolymerization of ethylene and maleic acid, of isobutylene and vinylidene, of propylene and acrylonitrile, and of polypropylene and butacrylate. Conventional catalysts and methods are used.</p> |
