An electrical machine has an armature 13 with commutator 16 which is contacted by brushes 17 each contained in a plastics brush box 18 wherein spring 22 both presses the brush on to the commutator and forces the brush box outwardly so that it is securely anchored on plate 19. Plate 19, which is secured to the machine frame by screws (21), has T- shaped slots 34 into which fits projection 31 on the back of brush box 18. The edges 37, 38, 39 of the projection lie against the corresponding edges 43, 44, 45 of the slot and the edge strips 40, 41, 42 overlap the edges of the carrier plate 19 so that the box is securely located on the plate. |
