In the manufacture of flooring tiles from elastomeric sheet material, the material is divided longitudinally by a device 20 forming the subject-matter of Specification 1,083,142 and the divided material is fed stepwise by means of a reciprocable carriage 24 to which the material is clamped, by means (32), Fig. 3 (not shown), prior to the forward stroke of the carriage at the end of which the material is released and chopped by means of a guillotine 30, the chopped lengths falling into a shoot 31. The carriage has articulated thereto connecting- rods 26 which are articulated at different radial locations to discs 27 on a shaft 28 to provide a variable throw crank. The guillotine has a clamp 34 associated therewith. The clamping means 32 are controlled by vertically reciproable bars 29 co-operating with rollers 33. |
