In a rotationally resilient clutch disc for a motor vehicle friction clutch, wherein a friction lining carrying disc part 14 is connected to a substantially co-planar hub part 15 by spring elements, and means is provided for limiting relative rotation between said parts, the spring elements are disposed, so as to act in radial, inclined or tangential lines, in planes normal to the clutch disc axis on both sides of the parts 14, 15, are each secured at opposite ends to said parts, are distributed circumferentially uniformly, and consist of bendable springs of irregular cross-section. As shown, the disc part 14 comprises stop, damper, and cover rings 19, 20, 21. The hub part 15 comprises outwardly projecting lugs 30 co-operable with inwardly projecting lugs (29) of the stop ring 19 to limit relative rotation, and a shoulder 32 accommodating damping friction rings 33 which, bear on the damper ring 20 and are acted on by a disc 34 loaded by a dished spring 35 reacting on the hub part 15. Spring pivot pins 22, pass through the disc and hub parts 14, 15. Flat steel springs 24, of arched C-shape and reducing in width towards their ends, have eyes 27, 28 pushed on the pins 22, 26 and secured by circlips 25. The springs may be pre-stressed. The springs may be of strip, square or round steel. They may be of open or closed, triangle, box or trapezium shape, C (as shown), O, S or 8 shape, or zig-zag, helical or spiral shape, or have watch-spring-like ends connected by a straight section. |
