A devitrifiable sealing glass composition consists of, in weight per cent, 1À5-2À5 SiO 2 ; 7À5-10 B 2 O 3 ; 70-80 PbO; 10-15 ZnO; 0À5-2À5 F 2 , less 0À1 to 1À0 oxygen (the amount of oxygen that is chemically equivalent to fluorine and which has been replaced by fluorine) and may additionally comprise 1-3 BaO. The glasses may be prepared by similar methods to those described in parent Specification 1,190,061 and have similar properties and uses to the sealing glasses described therein. |
