Plasma progesterone determination duringmens

The determination is carried out with a new protein which complexes selectively with the progesterone. The protein is obtd. from the blood plasma or serum of pregnant guinea pigs of any strain. The plasma protein is pptd. by addn. of methanol. Hydroxylated steroids which might otherwise interfere with the reaction are converted to heptafluorobutyrate derivs. It is not necessary to extract the progesterone with an org. solvent.
