<p>1505178 Shaft couplings ACE ENVELOPE MFG CORP 30 June 1975 [1 July 1974] 27593/75 Heading F2U In a centrifugal pump for delivering ink in a printing press the motor shaft 52 is releasablysecured to the impeller shaft 22 by a coupling 54 having aligning means, such as a spring-loaded pin 70, for positioning the impeller within a lower housing 90. The coupling comprises a sleeve 54 secured to the motor shaft 52 by a set-screw 56 and is provided at its lower end with notches 82 engageable over a pin 78 projecting through the impeller shaft 22 for transmitting the drive. The shafts are maintained in axial alignment by the pin 70 which is mounted on a leaf spring 64 fixed on the sleeve by screws 66, 68. The impeller shaft is secured to the impeller 24 by a set-screw 88. To remove the motor complete with the sleeve 54 from the impeller shaft, knurled screws 44 are withdrawn to release the grooved studs 36 which are part of the motor assembly and are held in apertures 38 in a cover plate 26, the latter being secured to the impeller housing by bolts 30.</p> |
