The invention relates to a test strip for determination of an analyte in a liquid sample comprising an absorbent material with functional areas, boundaries being present for guidance of the sample liquid from one functional area to another functional area inside the absorbent material, the boundaries being incapable of transporting sample liquid. The test strip according to the invention is characterised in that all the functional areas for determination of an analyte are located within a single layer of the absorbent material, and the individual functional areas do not touch each other directly but are connected by absorbent webs. The invention furthermore relates to a method for preparing such test strips, the use of an absorbent, heat-deformable material for preparing such test strips and an embossing die or an embossing roller for preparing such test strips. |
