PURPOSE:To reduce energy consumption remarkably by a method wherein a compressing and melting space is provided in a chamber, a rotary disk is provided in the space, and a ejction port opening into the space is provided at a location opposite to the central part of the disk. CONSTITUTION:A particulate or granular high polymeric material 12 to be extruded is fed into the compressing and melting space 2 via a hopper 3. As the rotary disk 4 in the space 2 is rotated, the material 12 is moved in the circumferential direction while receivig a shering action between the disk 4 and a fixed wall 1a, so that its temperature is raised by the shearing energy and it is gradually melted. As the material 12 fed onto the disk 4 from the peripheral side is melted, the resin is moved spirally toward the central part of the disk 4 by the weissenberg effect. By imparting a shearing force to the material continuously during this process, the material can be heated uniformly and can be melted with a minimized amount of energy. |
