PURPOSE:To produce stainless steel contg. a large amt. of nickel inexpensively by adding a specific amt. of carbonaceous powder to NiO powder, mixing and molding these, and heating the molding at apecific temps. in an oxidizing gaseous atmoshere, then allowing the same to react with molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Carbonaceous powder is added by 5-20% to NiO powder. The NiO powder is obtained by such a method of oxidizing and roasting nickel mats and is controlled to have about <=1mm. grain sizes. Grained coal, coke powder, etc. are used for the carbonaceous powder, and its grain sizes are kept at about <=1mm.. A binder such as water glass is added to this at about 2-5%, and these are mixed and molded. Thence, the molding is heated to >=850 deg.C in a high temp. oxidizing gaseous atmosphere to convert about >=60% nickel component to metal, after which molten metal is charged in a converter and oxygen blowing is carried out. |
