In a mounting for a mechanically actuated brake unit on the splashwall (8) of a motor vehicle, in which the brake unit comprises a master cylinder (3) and a booster (4), the two housing shells (6, 7) of which are joined together by a rolled, flanged or seamed connection, the splashwall (8) has a perforation (9) or a recess, on the edge (10) of which a saucer-shaped retaining element (11) with bearing arm (37) is arranged, on which the housing of the booster (4) is supported and held, a clamping strap (12) partially encompassing that section of the housing of the booster (4) lying opposite the retaining element (11), the ends of which strap are fixed on the retaining elements (11) and/or on the splashwall (8), arresting the housing of the booster (4). The saucer-shaped retaining element (11) is fixed in the area of the edge (10) of the perforation (9), so that the retaining element supports approximately one half of the circumference of the booster housing, so that the booster, after removal of the clamping strap (12) can be withdrawn from the retaining element (11). The bearing arm (37) welded fast to the retaining element (11) or integrally formed with this has a bearing (38) at its free end, in which the brake lever (20) coupled to the actuating rod (19) is supported. <IMAGE>
