In order to avoid the greasy film forming on the plastic surface during photopolymerisation as a result of atmospheric oxygen, it has proved advantageous, after the application of all plastics layers, their curing and the polymerisation operations necessary for this, to carry out the last curing process under vacuum. The lightweight, transparent and readily portable device described with a weight of approximately 250 g permits photopolymerisation of the applied coating under vacuum, after the application or brushing on of a photopolymerisable coating layer onto the still greasy plastic surface. The object to be surface finished can be removed again from the device in a highly glossy state after a short time. Postpolishing is no longer necessary after this.
