Compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 is lower alkyl substituted by hydroxyl or protected hydroxyl, R2 is carboxyl or functionally modified carboxyl, R3 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, R4 represents hydrogen or an organic radical bonded via a carbon atom, R5 denotes hydrogen or lower alkyl, or, together with R4, lower alkylene optionally substituted by hydroxyl or oxo, and R6 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or acyl, optical isomers of compounds of the formula I, mixtures of these optical isomers and salts of those compounds of the formula I which contain a salt-forming group, have antibiotic properties. The novel compounds can be used for the treatment of infectious diseases, for example in the form of formulations having antibiotic activity. The novel compounds can be prepared in a manner known per se. |
