A video player (1) outputs to a monitor (6) and digitising memory unit (2). When a scene transition point of interest is encountered, the videotape is stopped by the operator via a keyboard (5) and control unit (4). The keyboard is then used to control viewing of the preceding is images (30,video fields) on another monitor (3) for the burnt-in codes at either side of the transition. Meanwhile the videotape is rewound a few frames to prevent loss of viewing at the next start up. The codes are entered via the keyboard into a register (7) which may be a computer controlled file. At the same time, other details of scene transition type, intended position of scene in the finished programme and any titles are entered. |
