The incoming-air element (9), in particular for drying installations, has an inlet opening (15) for supplying the hot drying air. Provided in the lower region of the incoming-air element is a funnel-shaped air-outlet opening (16) with two legs (34, 35). The two legs form at their lower end a slot-shaped opening (36) for supplying the drying air to the material web (4) to be dried. Mounted inside the funnel-shaped outlet opening (16), on both sides of the material web, is an adjustable bar (21, 22). The two bars (21, 22) serve to make it possible to adjust the width of the air-outlet opening (36) to the respective material web width. As a result, the escape of surplus drying air at the sides of the material web is avoided, which constitutes an energy loss and leads to an excessive heating up of the side parts of the transport roller (3) and the material web (4). <IMAGE>
